ComOne is , and has been, investigating the possibility of providing VOIP ( Voice Over IP ) telephone service to its customer base in addition to providing the service to any person in the area with a Highspeed Internet connection. One of the largest stumbling blocks with providing VOIP service to the area is the lack of a local phone number. While VOIP services exist and are available the closest phone number available is Edmonton.
This type of service does not come without cost to ComOne, if it was cheap and easy companies like Vonage would have done it already. As such there needs to be a certain amount of interest in the project prior to making the decision to move forward with the additional service.

As a side note, all equipment we have deployed in the field has the ability to prioritize Voice Traffic over general Internet traffic. This provides us the ability to ensure an acceptable level of service for voice calls exists.
A new fiber line is being run directly to our offices that will enable us to reduce any bottle necks of data delivery and should be in place in 4 weeks.
